Position Summary
Strategic Communications and Public Affairs (StratComm) leads an important role in helping to shape and strengthen San Diego State University’s brand and visibility of the Office of the President and campus-wide initiatives. The team also advances institutional effectiveness in marketing, communications and both community and governmental affairs.
StratComm is seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Digital Communications Analyst with a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and a community orientation.
Reporting to the Director of Digital Communications, this position will work with various tools including Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Litmus, and Google Suite, supporting communications for partners on campus. This position will perform a variety of tasks to include:

Marketing automation tool implementation and management
Communication tools support

User training and support
Email communication support
Data strategy and list management
Tracking, analyzing, and reporting

This position is an integral part of a larger team that supports campus system implementation and management of a centralized marketing automation system for the whole campus and works toward more streamlined and effective communication processes.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of three years of experience using email marketing, marketing automation or customer resource management (CRM)
Minimum of two years managing data
Familiar with digital marketing trends in higher education and able to stay current of trends
Experience working with data in different formats including Excel
Experience using Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Hubspot, or similar
Experience creating and managing system data segmentation
Experience creating email templates using HTML/CSS, web forms, and landing pages.
Experience using graphic tools such as Adobe Photoshop or Canva
Ability to communicate regularly with users to offer support

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $4,750 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,897 - $7,051 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.
