This position is in the Intellectual Property Department (IPD). A core responsibility is to attend and coordinate patent prosecution-related meetings with attorneys, outside counsel, and inventors across the company as needed. In addition to providing meeting coordination, the Legal Support professional is also primarily responsible for completing a variety of clerical tasks such as, but not limited to scanning, copying, calendaring, database data entry, computer searches, expense reporting, creation of electronic sales orders, as well as retrieving and archiving certified copies of patent prosecution documents.
Additionally, the Legal Support professional is primarily responsible for managing a docket of centralized US and foreign prosecution tasks such as, but not limited to preparing and filing Oath/Declarations, Patent Assignments, Information Disclosure Statements (IDS), and Power of Attorneys (POA) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) via their electronic filing system (EFS). As part of executing these patent prosecution tasks, the position also provides the Legal Support with the opportunity to contribute to department-wide operations projects.
All tasks require the Legal Support to become proficient in the use of our internal systems for data generation, tracking and status updates. This position requires direct and extensive interaction with all levels of Legal, Engineering, and Operations Management at domestic and foreign locations, gathering information required in processing patent applications.
The ideal candidate exhibits an appreciation and an understanding of a framework defined by basic legal principles and ethics and can operate within that framework. This involves acute attention to detail and accuracy of data; diligent review of legal documents against detailed checklists; and dedication to completing tasks ahead of docketed deadlines.
The position requires excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills utilizing proper grammar, accurate spelling, and context. The candidate must be comfortable reviewing/proofreading long documents which may have unfamiliar terms. The candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills; the ability to multi-task, as well as manage time and tasks efficiently. The position requires flexibility and adaptability to change.
The position is expected to understand how technology is used in daily operations to increase productivity and demonstrate ability to offer feedback or solutions on how to improve technology to meet business needs.

2+ years professional business experience
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Good communication and coordination skills
2+ years' experience in the legal field
2-4 year college degree OR paralegal certificate, or equivalent experience
