The Platform team is at the core of Xoom’s money transfer business. We are responsible for building and maintaining a resilient and always-available platform that provides the backend services and API's that enable our web and mobile applications to thrive in our customer's hands. While also providing the backend services and tools for our Customer Service and Operational teams.We are looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about developing scalable, secure, and well- tested software. As a member of the team, you will use Java, Spring, MySQL, Redis, Rabbit, Docker, MQ technologies; design, and develop RESTful APIs. Job Responsibilities: Be part of the development lifecycle activities including but not limited to design, coding, testing, and production release and support. Work with a variety of stakeholders across the whole business to ensure that our financial systems meet our reliability, accuracy, and performance goals. Deliver software development tasks efficiently and with high quality. Engage proactively in monitoring and provide necessary production support. Participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing. Bear ownership in the entire process of getting code from your computer to production. Produce well-tested code through the use of unit, regression and integration tests, and help QA team build the necessary automated test to ensure fast deployment of our new features Refactor legacy code to make it more efficient and in line with current standards. Design software features so that they facilitate operational and customer service support. Basic Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in a Software Development Organization. Experience in Object-Oriented analysis, design and development, preferably in Java. Experience with SQL, Redis, Rabbit and MQ server messaging technologies Strong desire to learn, push the envelope, think out of the box, and share knowledge with others. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across the whole tech stack
- language, databases, web servers and system environment. Must be proficient in speaking, writing, and reading in English, in a business and technical environment Experience with Agile development and knowledge of Agile principles. Nice to have experience in: Application Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, etc) Spring Framework, Maven, Git, JIRA, etc. Relational Database and persistence technologies (MySQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, HornetQ, etc) API design and Microservice architecture.
