POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Data Analytics supports Halozyme’s Technical Operations teams (Manufacturing, Product Development, and Quality) to improve existing operations with insights driven by data. This position has ownership of our internally developed analytics application designed to provide reliable data to inform business planning and decision making. The role works directly with multi-functional end users, IT and external service providers to create scalable solutions which effectively and efficiently support business decisions, process analysis and problem solving. The role requires a solid understanding of the drivers of the business and that ability to translate those into meaningful analytics tools to support the teams’ analytical needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These may include but are not limited to:

Halozyme Insight Tool (HIT) analytical platform owner:
Act as point of contact for the organization on HIT usage (face of the system)
Liaise between Manufacturing, Quality, Product Development, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, and external service providers
Act as the super user of HIT (knowledgeable on all HIT operations from data input to presentation on dashboards/reports)

System operations:
Collaborate with department leads to develop interfaces and integrations with external parties for data collection and information exchange, striving to align data structure across multiple sources
Supervise data quality and track issues, providing short-term resolution and long-term prevention
Ensure integrity of data loads to HIT and resolve exceptions
Act as in-house Tableau lead, including development of customized dashboards
Support ad hoc report requests (by executing in-house or translating requirements to external service providers
Develop and report on operational metrics for system and business performance related to HIT

System Enhancements:
Lead phased scope upgrades and enhancements for HIT
Interact with end users to understand their business requirements and work with function leads and IT to prioritize enhancements
Translate business enhancement requirements to external service providers (in partnership with IT)
Define system requirements vs. business process requirements
Lead effort to develop, test, integrate reporting and analysis solutions
Lead rollout of newly developed capabilities from start to finish
Support end users through formal and informal hands-on training and educate users on best practices and business intelligence solutions

User access:
Lead user access to HIT

Training:
Train new users
Train existing users on new features or updates
Develop/deliver (or collaborate with external parties to develop/deliver) training materials

Support:
Act as primary point of contact for support issues
Understand and resolve issues and ,when necessary, triage to appropriate resources for resolution
Develop SOPs/work instructions for HIT

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Minimum of BS degree in life sciences or data science with at least 8 years’ experience as a data analyst including at least 5 years’ experience developing and administering dashboards, preferably utilizing Tableau (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
Previous experience in the Pharmaceutical or Life Science industry with an understanding of commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing, analytical methods, regulatory requirements, and business drivers is required
Hands-on experience in application development, data lake technology, data integration, business intelligence platforms, and advanced analytics, including data management and analytics in cloud and hybrid environments
Sophisticated understanding of analysis techniques and processes, with good background in statistical analysis and ability to extrapolate meaning from such analysis
Excellent problem-solving skills, details oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy
Previous experience directly working with analysts and decision makers to support decision making
In-depth experience developing proof of concept prototypes, presenting, advising, and assisting with a wide variety of projects with the ability to independently prioritize and advance multiple assignments
Shown self-starter, capable of producing meaningful and organized products, with application of good project management tools to achieve quality, on-time deliverables
Strong leadership skills that blend technical abilities with a capacity for excelling in understanding and addressing key business challenges identified by stakeholders across the enterprise
Demonstratable ability to communicate clearly, effectively and by simplifying sophisticated information
Strong service orientation with passion for identifying and developing creative solutions
Demonstrated ability to understand sophisticated business processes and influence business change to adapt to global norms
Passionate about learning, sharing and further developing standard methodologies to achieve greater impact

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Equipment:PC, scanners, facsimile machine, voice mail and e-mail systems, and common office machines, or ability to be trained. Knowledge of other equipment required:

Software Knowledge: Windows, MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Knowledge of other software required: Tableau, JMP

EFFORT REQUIRED/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
