Founded in 2003, EFTC is a registered charity in Guatemala, the UK and the US. EFTC works in partnership with disadvantaged families, children and young adults in Guatemala to ensure they develop the tools they need to break free from the cycle of poverty.
EFTC’s School of Hope, founded in 2005, is the very first non-profit school in Guatemala to start a fully bilingual programme (Spanish/English) that offers children and young adults the opportunity to study from reception through to junior high. For graduating students, EFTC offers a full scholarship to study a course of choice until entrance to employment.
EFTC has also developed several programs, over the years, to improve student retention and raise awareness or provide solutions to social issues that families and/or the local community face.
Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and outgoing bilingual (English/Spanish) person to manage the EFTC Sponsorship programme. The successful candidate should have excellent organizational and administrative skills and have the ability to work well under pressure. Flexibility and collaboration are essential in this fast paced, international project.
Job Description
Sponsors are responsible for a large portion of EFTC’s income; this being an important and reliable source, so retention and communication is paramount to the foundation.
The Coordinator will be responsible for the overall running of the Sponsorship programme, maximising and enhancing the Sponsor’s experience. This position is part of the small fundraising and outreach teams, and reports directly to the Administration & Fundraising Manager. Additionally, this role works closely with out UK fundraising office.
The role includes communicating and interacting with existing Sponsors and encouraging them to grow their engagement with EFTC. The Coordinator should also attract and convert new sponsors where possible.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
The Sponsor Coordinator’s key responsibilities, as follows, are non-exhaustive and additional duties may be required and assigned.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide all Contact to prospective sponsors regarding the possibility of becoming an EFTC sponsor and provide all necessary details.
- Coordinate the bi-annual letter writing and photo project for children and scholarship students.
- Maintain all sponsorship documentation and the donor management software Salesforce
- Liaise with the Sponsorship Coordinator in the UK to ensure that communication with sponsors and donors is clear, effective and personalized.
- Oversee all communications between sponsors and sponsor children.
- Oversee the delivery of gifts and donations for students sent by sponsors.
- Coordinate and supervise visits of Sponsors to the School of Hope.
- Develop fundraising and outreach materials for prospective supporters.
- Encourage visitors and volunteers in Guatemala to become sponsors.
- Liaise with UK and USA fundraising offices on fundraising initiatives
- Translation of letters and materials
- Facilitate meetings and workshops with Teachers and Admin staff to develop project plans, address emerging issues and/or discuss the importance of sponsors and donors for EFTC.
- Develop plans and projects to enhance the Sponsorship Program regularly.
- Ensure that all Sponsorship related policies and procedures are up to date and complied with at all times.
- Communicate any doubts or concerns, relating to the policies and procedures, or potential issues with sponsors immediately to the Administration & Fundraising Manager or the Project Director.
- Produce regular updates on program development with key figures that demonstrate progress.
- Attend and participate actively in regular meetings with the Outreach Department
- Work as a team with the Outreach Department to organize and facilitate local fundraisers as well as collaborate on individual department projects

Key skills needed for the role are:
