Description:
Common Hope hosts groups of visitors and provides opportunities for them to learn about and experience Guatemala and the work of Common Hope. The Vision Team Coordinator is assigned to a number of teams of visitors each year and is responsible for organizing and facilitating team experiences. During the team's stay, the Vision Team Coordinator is responsible for listening, sharing, encouraging, answering questions, facilitating communication with people in Guatemala (employees, affiliated family members, and others) and making sure the team's physical and emotional needs are met. They are also responsible for learning donor interests and inviting them to partner with us financially, and as ambassadors by spreading the word of Common Hope in their various communities.
General Requirements:
- Commitment to the mission, vision, values, principles, and goals of Common Hope and its four sites in Guatemala
- Demonstrated attitude of service and commitment to work in a service environment and to learn about Guatemalan culture
- Willingness to work onsite and in the villages
- Willingness to share work experiences with donors, sponsors, teams, and others to raise consciousness and fund-raise
- Ability to work effectively in both Spanish and English, with strong oral and written skills

- Minimum one year commitment
Functions:
- Work closely with the U.S. Hospitality staff, the Antigua Hospitality staff, and other agencies and organizations to plan and arrange the following for teams:
-Schedule
-Work assignments
-Transportation
-Food
-Side trips
-Sponsorship visits
-Reflection activities
-Other activities as needed
- Provide clear and direct orientation to all incoming teams regarding their health, safety, and schedule; follow up with teams if they are not following guidelines
- Actively listen to team members’ questions and identify opportunities for deeper engagement and understanding of programs; communicate team members’ needs with Hospitality Manager and EMT sponsor
- Encourage and accompany team members in their emotional connection to the mission and what they’re observing during the course of the week
- Lead reflection activities for teams that educate and challenge complacency; provide opportunities for historical and cultural context
- Translate activities, visits, and interactions between team members and families/staff; ask clarifying questions and provide cultural context to team members as needed
- Capture and document visitor data and communicate potential engagement opportunities
- Spend time with teams during evenings and weekends, including receiving teams at airport, dinners with teams on and offsite, and translating weekend cultural activities
- Communicate team members’ medical needs immediately to the Hospitality Manager and Clinic Director
- Provide pueblo tours and site tours to individuals and groups of the Antigua site and new communities
- Assist in the planning and execution of major visitor events such as Graduation and board meetings
- Represent the vision, mission, and policies of Common Hope through your actions
