Job OverviewUnder the general direction of the Director of ACE Scholars Services (ACE), the ACE Outreach and Retention Counselor position is responsible for counseling and advising including, but not limited to, prospective applicants, support systems, and external partners on admission-related matters; and participating in various targeted recruitment and outreach yield activities in support of ACE's goal to increase the rate of foster youth matriculation into, and graduation from, California State University San Marcos. The position advises prospective students with lived experience in foster care on the requirements for admission to the University and ACE, and the opportunities available to them. The position assist with the marketing and communication efforts for ACE, especially as it relates to community colleges, strategic partners, high schools, county agencies, and community organizations. Incumbent has a professional level of expertise in all areas of admissions for first-time freshman and transfer applicants, and a comprehensive knowledge of educational support processes. The position also provides new student onboarding support and retention services such as personal, academic, financial and success counseling; develops and implements retention strategies and services for ACE Scholars.Position SummaryACE Outreach and Retention Counselor (Student Services Professional II)This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave.
