EFTC’s School of Hope, founded in 2005, offers children and young adults the opportunity to study English from reception through to junior high. There is a part bilingual programme (Spanish/English) from Reception to First grade and an intensive ESL model from Second grade to Ninth grade. For graduating students, EFTC offers a full scholarship to study a course of choice until entrance to employment.

EFTC is seeking a dynamic and innovative professional in Education and ESL to coordinate and manage the English Department and English Team at Escuela Proyecto La Esperanza in Jocotenango, Sacatepéquez.

The successful candidate must have a strong background in education, working with children, advanced Spanish, and experience in curriculum writing. Management experience is strongly desired. Masters in Education or Bilingual Education is preferred.

The English Coordinators key responsibilities, as follows, are non-exhaustive and additional duties may be required and assigned.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

- Coordinate, motivate & mentor all members of the English Teaching Team.
- Manage the Department's Human Resource issues.
- Provide a comprehensive induction for any new English Teachers, in conjunction with the Head of Education and Foundation Coordinator.
- Receive English Teacher’s lesson plans on a weekly basis and provide feedback with suggestions that will support their ideas and enhance the student’s learning experience.
- Review English Teachers weekly requests for material and approve the provision of materials, in accordance with lesson plans.
- Ensure that all English Teachers meet the deadlines that are set for them throughout the school year.
- Review End-of-Term and Final assessments submitted by English Teachers and approve or provide necessary feedback.
- Participate in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of professional and personal development in the role and identify the needs of team members.
- Source professional development opportunities for the English team and/or give workshops to the team on areas that will develop their skills and strengthen the department.
- Evaluate overall effectiveness of the School of Hope's English Programme,develop and enhance the English curriculum.
- Chair a weekly meeting with all members of the English team to discuss and communicate any important information at a Team, School and Foundation level.
- Participate in a weekly meeting with the Head of Education and School Principals.
- Participate in 1 classroom observation session with each English teacher per week to observe and monitor progress, in order to provide feedback to each Teacher.
- Provide a weekly summary for each English Teacher, to be distributed in the weekly meeting, that provides constructive feedback on the classroom observation session.
- Develop policies and procedures for overall efficient and effective operation of the the School of Hope’s English Team, when necessary.
- Liaise with the Visitor & Volunteer Coordinator to coordinate the allocation of visitors in Teacher’s classrooms.
- Liaise with school administrators and head masters to develop a Summer School English Programme for students commencing in November for a period of 6 weeks.
- Attend and participate in meetings with the EFTC Education or Admin team, when necessary or requested.
- Promote the EFTC mission, vision and core value at all times!
