Job OverviewUnder general supervision, the Real Time Captioner provides immediate verbatim translation of spoken English into text using court reporting methods, a steno machine, real-time technology, software and a laptop computer for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, faculty, and staff in a wide array of academic settings (virtual and in person) including California State University San Marcos sponsored public events. In addition, the Real Time Captioner facilitates communication by assisting the consumer with concurrent participation in the communication process by voicing questions or comments that the consumer has entered into the system.Position SummaryReal Time CaptionerThis is a part time, temporary, non-exempt position ending on or before June 30, 2024. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations.
